Orbit Milton Keynes
Southern Region Team Trampoline Competition
This annual competition took place this year on the Isle of Wight, and as luck would have it the weather was kind. We had a team of seven in the second division, unable to make the optimal number of eight giving a buffer for the six best scores to count. Our girls just had to be at their best.
This event takes competition ability across the range into account, each club having to select performers from the lowest to the highest difficulty, demonstrating quality at every level. This means that routines may begin with only one somersault included, right up to ten somersaults, one for every move.
Our youngest competitor, Anya Gale, aged 9 and in her first level 1 competition gave a solid reliable pair of routines scoring two routines on the board.
Samira Westerby jumped at a grade higher, continuing our progress with two more good routines.
At the same level, Hanna Lingard upped her game, drawing the first 8.0s from the judges.
Lily Mundy continued the trend and registered good scores at the next level up, to be followed by some of the best scores of the day by Laura Kelly jumping at our highest level.
Staying at this degree, Freya Robinson gave a very good account only to be followed by younger Asami Gynn, who gave arguably her best routines of the season.
Initially we were awarded 2nd. place and we were all very pleased with Silver, BUT, on count-back it transpired that our team were actually 1st. and will be promoted to Division 1 next year and are the proud cup holders for a season.
