Southern Region Grading, 31st January 2016, Isle of Wight
Orbit Milton Keynes Jump on the Island
On the last day of the month 9 of our team went to the Isle of Wight to compete in the first Graded event of the trampoline year.
The morning consisted of the National Development Plan levels and the afternoon of the Graded. Some of ours competed in both.
At NDP Level 1, 11 - 12 yrs. Lauren Sinclair and Laura Kelly competed with 18 0ther girls and when the dust settled Lauren was 7th. and Laura took 1st place with a very high score! Laura jumped again in the afternoon events and took another medal, this time in 3rd. place. Both girls exceeded the benchmark score of 42.0 marks making them eligible for the Regional team event.
At Level 3 in the 9 - 12 yrs. Rachel Marsh was 6th. but easily broke the 42.0 barrier, and went on in the afternoon to come 5th. and qualify up a grade.
Going up to age 13+, Imogen Wells took a fine Bronze in her first individual competition.
At Level 4, 13+, our only male, Ben Gilroy went through a testing competition, and after landing on the end mat in one routine, went on to come 4th. and pass the 42.0 barrier.
In the Girls equivalent Rebecca Dormer began what was to be a great day for her, taking 1st. place with a huge 48.7. She went on in the afternoon to win again in the Girls O15s.
At level 5 two Millies took on a large field in the 13+ girls with an almost perfect result. Millie Heathcote was 1st. and Milly Cole 2nd both achieving high scores. In the afternoon Millie went on to compete again, and despite a fall took 5th. place.
At Level 7, the highest of the day, Tess Walker competed at 18+ and even after a fall took 2nd. Place, but did not make the 42.0 barrier, so will have to try again next month for that. In the afternoon both routines were solid, and Tess took another silver.
Our thanks to all our parents, supporters and officials without whom there would be no competition.
On February 21st. Orbit host the next Southern Region Grading at Bletchley L.C.!! It will be a great local spectacle.
