National Trampoline Competition Northern Ireland

In the last weekend in March Orbit Milton Keynes sent a small elite band to contest the honours in Newtownards and to pick up qualifications for the National Finals in July.

Having come first in Hull at the beginning of the month, and booked her place in the British Championships, Dayle Walker looked as though she would repeat the performance in the U15 girls National C grade in Ireland. After her compulsory routine Dayle was again ahead of the field. As to be expected, nothing is a foregone conclusion and she ran into difficulties in her voluntary only managing 8 out of ten moves. Despite this her good form still carried her through to 3rd. place. Well done.

Still looking for a place good enough to earn her a spot in the British Championships, Rebekah Bridge was next to show her form in the U17 girls National C.
Beka hit form just at the right time, jumping with height and control, to lead the competition after the compulsory routines. This quality continued, and she had increased her lead after the voluntaries and jumped well enough to book a place at the Championships in July. Beka gave a last stylish routine in the competition final to retain 1st. place, her best performance this season.

Moving up a level to the O19s Ladies Fig B event, Laura Wright began with a fine compulsory putting her within grasp of first place. Having the lowest tariff in the group Laura needed to show really good form, and she did just this gaining the highest marks for form, leaving her in 4th. place and a qualifying spot for the Championships. The final ran to form and Laura remained 4th. but had secured herself a slot for July, another best result this season.

The club’s final event came in the Senior girls Synchronized competition, represented by Laura and Rebekah. After a terrific start in the Compulsory routines the girls were in 1st. place. Unpredictability took a turn in the outcomes again, and after a fall in the voluntary, the duo went down to 6th. place. This was the only shortfall of the weekend, so our congratulations go to the competitors, and our thanks to the parents, helpers and coach who made it possible.
